Dr James Oldham is a composer, performer, and co-artistic director of Waste Paper Opera. His work has been performed at Somerset House, Glasgow International, Café OTO, Media Lab (Matadero, Madrid), Ikon Gallery, and Eastside Projects. He is an associate lecturer in collaborative and collective practice at UAL, and was previously assistant director to Sir Graham Vick with Birmingham Opera Company and National Opera Studio. He performs regularly for Brooklyn-based performance group Object Collection, and on the London cabaret scene as a musician and clown. In June 2025, he was awarded a PhD on comic timing in music from the University of Southampton.
