Robert was born in Sandwell to Jamaican parents who were not devotees of classical music or the arts but supported his love for music. Inspired by Rudolph Nureyev, he began dance training at 15 with the Birmingham Athletics Institute under Miss Watermann, later performing in Aida with Midland Music Makers. He returned to Midland Opera in 2014 as a singer, performing in all productions until 2024, while also being a Community Chorus member for Birmingham Opera Company.

He trained at Rambert Ballet School for three years, followed by a year at the Andrew Hardy School. He was an original cast member in Sir Michael Tippett’s opera The Ice Break and later danced with Alexander Roy's London Ballet Theatre and Workshop Number 7.

Returning to the West Midlands, Robert taught dance at institutions such as the Betty Pattison School and Midlands Arts Centre. He has also performed Shakespearean roles at the Crescent Theatre, Birmingham and in Community Chorus roles in Julius Caesar with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Stratford-upon-Avon.

For 25 years, Robert has worked as a social worker for adults, producing legal reports, safeguarding documentation, and tribunal submissions while refining communication and organisational skills.
